Eddie's Story
Eddie's Story Made Possible by His Fosters
                                       By Debra Maxey, Director, PupSavers.org

When pups arrive, they're tired and traumatized. Some puppies are more skittish than others but Eddie was one of the most fearful and withdrawn. Eddie was older than most of the pups we get and he was an "owner surrender" which told us someone kept him for a few months and then decided they didn't want him anymore. We didn't know why he was surrendered or if he had been abused or not. He didn't like being held or having his photo taken. When he was put down, he was scared and slouched away from us. He wasn't aggressive but very afraid.
  Eddie's "Issues"
The foster scooped up Eddie and took him home and called the next day describing Eddie's "issues." He didn't trust humans and didn't get along with their dogs.
I received some calls on Eddie from people who saw him on PetFinder.com but when I told them about his "issue
s," they weren't interested anymore.
Saturday's adoption event was not a good debut for Eddie. He barked and lunged at other dogs. The foster picked up Eddie and said, "I'm taking him home, he won't get adopted acting like this. He needs another week."
That week the foster family called and said, "Quit telling everyone interested in Eddie that he doesn't get along with people and dogs! He's doing great!"
Eddi
e's Second Adoption Event
As you can see, Eddie's behavior was very different at the second event than the description of him at his first! He was calmer than the other little puppies! He didn't bark at people or other dogs. He played very nicely by himself. The foster talked to several potential adopters, but there were no takers. All the little pups got adopted.

Eddie and his fosters stayed hopeful and would keep looking for a forever family for him.
Maybe next week...

Eddie's Final Adoption Event
A couple came to the event, they have 2 dogs and wanted another. They listened to Eddie's story. They took him for a walk on a leash and he was completely agreeable to it. It was as if they and Eddie were old friends. It looked like Eddie even wanted to sign his own adoption documents!

 Eddie's Forever Home
This is Eddie, renamed "Jackson," in his new home and as you can see, he doesn't have "issues" anymore! All he needed was TLC and his fosters gave it to him. They worked with him on trusting them and playing with other dogs. And look at the result of their efforts!

Eddie's, uh, Jackson's, new family loves him. They said, "He quickly responded to his new name and the fosters must have worked with him a lot because he's already learning  to sit. He's so smart! When we took him to his first vet visit, he was so well behaved, it was amazing! He loves his new brothers. He, Duke and Dre play and chase each other all the time."

It looks like Jackson fits right in!
Thank you Amanda and Ron for giving Jackson a great home and thank you Helen and Peter for making it possible. dm
