Fostering Puppies
Frequently Asked Questions

What does "foster based" rescue mean?
Fosters are the base of PupSavers. No puppies can be saved without fosters. PupSavers philosophy is that it is best for rescue pups to be in people's homes to prepare them for adoption. Our pups are not kept in kennels and no foster fosters more than 3 or 4 pups even though the state limit is 8 at a time. By keeping fewer pups at each foster's, the pups get personalized attention and observation. Fosters' feedback is crucial in helping to have healthy and happy pups for adoption.

What if the foster wants to adopt the foster puppy?
Great! Fosters always have the first "opt to adopt."

What does fostering cost?
Nothing! PupSavers provides everything.

How long does a foster usually have the same pup?
Fostering for PupSavers is short term! Our puppies get adopted quickly.

Are the foster's animals safe around rescue pups?
Fosters' personal dogs have to be current on all vaccinations and in good health.

Remember:
When you foster a puppy you save 2 -- the one you're fostering and the spot opened at the shelter where he was rescued.

Fosters love when pups they have fostered come for a visit at adoption events!
